San Diego State looked like it was ready to break open its Sweet 16 game against UConn, but a costly turnover on a fast break killed that momentum. UConn has responded with a 17-5 run, and the Huskies now lead 34-27 we close in on four minutes remaining in the first half.
San Diego State Vs. UConn Score: Kemba Walker, Huskies On A Run, Lead 34-27
Kemba Walker came alive, culminating a surge with a transition layup as San Diego State started turning the ball over. Alex Oriakhi then hit a putback to turn it into a 34-27 lead, which was emphatically reinforced with a Roscoe Smith blocked shot.
After layups from Malcolm Thomas and Billy White put the Aztecs up, 22-17, the Huskies lost it, and White led the break. But White’s pass to D.J. Gay sailed out of bounds, and the Connecticut run began. Walker and Smith hit three-pointers in transition to fuel the run, which turned a 22-17 deficit into a 27-22 lead.
