UConn and Kentucky both entered the 2011 Final Four with teams full of freshmen. Neither team looks skittish early on, though.
UConn Vs. Kentucky, 2011 Final Four: Cold-Shooting Wildcats Up 10-8 Early On Huskies
The Huskies have gotten buckets from four of five starters for their eight points, while Terrence Jones has seven of Kentucky’s 10 points.
Kentucky’s first bucket came on a beautiful one-handed drop-off from Darius Miller to Jones. But the ‘Cats didn’t shoot well in the first three minutes, missing three jumpers on one early possession.
This is Kentucky’s 15th Final Four, and if the Wildcats win, it will be Kentucky’s 106th NCAA Tournament victory, setting a new record.
UConn, meanwhile, hasn’t lost a tournament game this year, and whipped these Wildcats at the Maui Invitational earlier this year. And that was when Walker was carrying the team with nearly no contribution from Lamb.
