Kemba Walker hasn’t even gotten to double digits, and the Huskies have seven turnovers — and yet, UConn leads Kentucky 31-21 at halftime.
Final Four 2011, UConn Vs. Kentucky: Halftime Score Has Huskies Up Double Figures, 31-21
Walker has nine points and Jeremy Lamb eight for a UConn team that is getting good shots and preventing Kentucky from getting easy buckets in transition.
The halftime score from Houston reflects Kentucky’s inability to score in the first half. The Wildcats went scoreless from the field for the final 6:48 of the first period, and shot a woeful 28.1% from the field against a UConn defense that hasn’t been particularly fierce. Brandon Knight’s three-for-11 performance was the most miserable of the Wildcats’ forgettable first 20 minutes.
And Kentucky’s best shot in the last seven minutes of the half looked like it ended with an uncalled goaltend by Charles Okwandu. This just doesn’t seem like Big Blue’s night.
