Shaka Smart’s AD Contacted By Missouri Basketball About Coaching Job, According To Report

Shaka Smart’s VCU basketball athletic director, Norwood Teague, has been contacted by the Missouri Tigers, according to Sports By Brooks. This is the first report of Mizzou formally expressing interest in Smart after his Final Four loss. If the report is accurate, it doesn’t mean Smart will talk with Mizzou or that he’s even interested in leaving VCU (for a massive raise), but it would be a first step.

You’d think both Missouri and the N.C. State Wolfpack would do just about anything to turn their programs over to Smart after the job he did with VCU this season. A bidding war between the two schools wouldn’t be hard to imagine. And, of course, he could always return to the Rams.

It’ll be exciting to see what happens over the next couple weeks regarding Smart’s future.
