Danielle Adams has been unstoppable in the paint, abusing the Notre Dame post players to score at will. Down one, Adams got the ball on the low block, made a quick move inside and drained a hook to put the Texas A&M back up by one. Notre Dame’s offense has been feast or famine, and the second half has been more famine than anything else. After Adams’ bucket, the Irish turned the ball back over just across half-court, giving the Aggies the ball back.
Women’s NCAA Basketball Championship, Texas A&M Vs. Notre Dame Score: Aggies Find Some Breathing Room
Once again, it was Adams in the paint, this time hitting a turn around bucket that found the bottom of the net. Notre Dame went back to Skylar Diggins on the following possession and it paid off as the 5-foot-9 guard gathered her own miss, hung in the air and drained the jumper to cut the deficit to one. Diggins was at it again after Texas A&M turned it over, hitting a quick jumper to put the Irish back up one, 58-47.
For once, it wasn’t Adams with the answer for the Aggies as Tyra White connected on a jumper from just inside the arc on one possession before Adaora Elonu made a contested shot in the paint on the next for Texas A&M.
With just under eight minutes to go, Texas A&M has the ball and the lead over Notre Dame in the women’s NCAA Tournament Championship, 60-57.
