The Texas A&M Aggies began to widen their lead with an 8-0 run before Notre Dame stopped the bleeding. Texas A&M scored four points in rapid succession, turning the Irish over in between. But Skylar Diggins was able to find an answer by putting her head down and getting to the bucket, setting up Devereaux Peters for an easy bucket to end the run.
Women’s National Basketball Championship Score: Skylar Diggins Carrying Notre Dame
After a Tyra White charge, Natalie Novosel came up with another quick bucket on a pull-up jumper to cut the deficit to three, 64-61. But an empty possession followed by the fourth foul on Peters put Adaora Elonu at the line with a chance to make it a two possession game. Elonu hit one of two and the Aggies had a four-point lead.
Diggins has been all over the place for for Notre Dame, and answered on the offensive end with a deep three to cut Texas A&M’s lead to one. Danielle Adams went to work in an effort to single-handedly foul out every Notre Dame post player, and notched her first victim as Natalie Achonwa was called for the block. Adams hit one of two free throws after the foul, but Diggins was there yet again for Notre Dame.
Diggins pulled up in the lane, connected on the jumper and drew the foul to tie the game back up with a chance to take the lead at the free throw line on the other side of the media timeout. With just under four minutes to go, it’s looking like a wild finish is on the horizon in Indianapolis as Notre Dame and Texas A&M are tied at 66 in the women’s NCAA Championship
