2011 NFL Combine: Weslye Saunders Drops Out With Aggravated Foot Injury

On Saturday, tight end Weslye Saunders was forced to drop out of the 2011 NFL Combine. The South Carolina alumnus left thanks to an aggravated foot injury. Tony Pauline tweets:

Weslye Saunders/TE reaggravated a broken bone is his foot warming up for the forty. His day is over. Pro day is March 30

As Pro Football Talk points out, this comes just weeks after Saunders was finally declared eligible for the NFL Draft. His eligibility for the draft was in serious doubt at one point:

Saunders reportedly failed to turn in the proper paperwork, which would not be the first time the big tight end made a significant error in judgment, if it’s true.

He missed the 2010 football season after getting kicked off the team for becoming mixed up in the Marvin Austin investigation and skipping team meetings. This was the final day of the combine for Saunders and the rest of the tight ends. He was scheduled for timing, station, and skill drills on Saturday before departure from Indianapolis.
