The final day of the 2011 NFL Combine in Indianapolis is here. Defensive backs will be the final position group to take the field for workouts. This group includes what could be a pair of top 10 picks in LSU’s Patrick Peterson and Nebraska’s Prince Amukamara, the two best corners in the draft.
2011 NFL Combine Schedule: Cornerbacks’ Patrick Peterson, Prince Amukamara Face Off
Peterson is the Thorpe Award winner and projected to be the top cornerback taken in the 2011 NFL draft. He left LSU after his junior year, a breakout season that saw many quarterbacks avoid throwing his way. Amukamara is expected to be the second cornerback off the board and he’s hoping to push his way into the top 10.
Amukamara says he and Peterson are friends and, as the top two cornerbacks, they’ve been developing a friendly rivalry.
“Patrick Peterson is an amazing player, and whatever attention or notoriety he’s getting, he deserves,” Amukamara said.
It’s hard to envision a scenario where Amukamara outperforms Peterson by so much that he surpasses him in the draft but, it’s the NFL, and anything can happen.
After the final workouts, the next step for many of these prospects will be pro day and then private visits with various teams as they prepare for April’s draft.
