2011 NFL Mock Draft: Tennessee Titans Select DT Nick Fairley

The Tennessee Titans are up next in SB Nation’s 2011 NFL mock draft and with the eighth pick Music City Miracleshas tapped Auburn DT Nick Fairley. There are a couple of ways to look at this pick, I think.

First, this is awesome value if he turns out to be the player some think he is. In January, after the 2010 college football season, Fairley was considered by many to be the top player in the draft.

Second, what if his work ethic really is a problem? Then this pick becomes a lot more meh. He’s been falling down draft boards because a little more digging has raised more questions than answers.

I seem to recall a defensive tackle with work ethic questions doing pretty darn well for himself in Tennessee. So well, in fact, that he received a $100-plus million contract in Washington.
