Da’Quan Bowers Injury Gets Good Reviews After Medical Re-Check

Clemson DE Da’Quan Bowers was widely considered a top pick in the 2011 NFL draft during the last college football season but throughout the postseason all-star games and workouts, Bowers’ stock has been slipping -- so far that he might be out of the top 10.

One of the reasons was a knee injury that he had surgery on last January to repair a torn meniscus. One team doctor told Peter King of SI.com that he would need micro fracture surgery, though that’s not confirmed by Bowers’ camp.

The good news is that his knee checked out at the medical re-check in Indianapolis this week, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Bowers, widely regarded as the premier pass-rushing end in the draft, didn't even have to undergo another X-ray or MRI because the physical exam went so well, the source said. Stability was good and there was no swelling in the knee.

The bad news is that this doesn’t help explain what many thought was an average to below average workout at Clemson earlier this month.

If he slips out of the top 10, then he's unlikely to drop past No. 13 because the Lions apparently really like him.
