2011 NFL Draft Invite List Is Growing

In March, a report surfaced that the NFLPA was asking players not to attend the 2011 NFL draft at Radio City Music Hall, instead joining a slate of NFLPA events. The reasoning, according to the report, was of course lockout-related. Since then, the NFLPA has clarified that, while they’re having their own set of draft weekend events, their schedule won’t conflict with the draft and they’re not asking players to skip Radio City Music Hall.

Because of that, the players attending the NFL draft in New York has become a bigger story. The NFL has extended invitations to over 20 prospects to be in attendance at Radio City Music Hall on draft weekend but not everyone has accepted.

To this point, there are at least 16 prospects that have been invited and accepted, including: QB Blaine Gabbert, RB Mark Ingram, DT Phil Taylor, G/C Mike Pouncey, WR A.J. Green, RB Ryan Williams, LB Akeem Ayers, UCLA S Rahim Moore, DE Adrian Clayborn, WR Julio Jones, DE Ryan Kerrigan, DT Corey Liuget, LB Von Miller, CB Patrick Peterson, QB Cam Newton, DE Cameron Jordan and OT Tyron Smith.

Now the guessing game starts as to which players will not be selected on Thursday, April 28, the first round of the draft, and have to wait until Friday night to hear their name called.
