2011 NFL Draft: Seattle Seahawks Looking To Trade Back

The 2011 NFL draft is a little different than other years because of the lockout which means teams can’t trade players during the draft. They can, though, trade picks (and future picks). So there will be some trading but perhaps not as much as usual.

One of the teams looking to trade back is the Seattle Seahawks. GM John Schneider told reporters at a pre-draft press conference that they would prefer to move back.

“Personally, I’d like to move back,” he said. “I have confidence in our ability in those middle rounds to do some good stuff.”

That’s likely because the Seahawks don’t have a third round pick. They could potentially move back even just a few spots and pick up a third round pick.

That said, is trading back the best option for them? Plenty of folks believe they’re looking for a quarterback and if there’s someone there -- let’s say QB Jake Locker -- would they still be looking to trade back? It’s hard to believe anything at this time of year so figuring out what Schneider says, and what he may really mean, is a difficult task.

The Seahawks best chance of moving back may be a quarterback falling to them and another team sitting in the second round looking to move up and snag him.
