Cam Newton To Carolina Panthers Already Settled, According To Report

The 2011 NFL draft won't begin for another hour but it appears the Carolina Panthers have found their man. As everyone has been predicting for several weeks now, the Panthers will select QB Cam Newton at 8:04 p.m. (ET) when they officially go on the clock.

ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio, who just spoke with Panthers GM Marty Hurney, said the Panthers are at piece with their decision.

"Jerry Richardson the owner of the team met with Marty Hurney the general manager and the head coach Ron Rivera and he signed off on the proposal of drafting Cam Newton, who he met with in his home for many, many hours and was very impressed with."

Also worth noting: the Panthers say they haven’t received a single offer for the No. 1 overall pick. Not one. That’s a little surprising given all the trade talks that go on during draft season.

The first round of the 2011 NFL Draft starts at 8 p.m. (ET) on Thursday, April 28th and SB Nation has everything you need to prepare for it - NFL mock drafts, draft projections, scouting reports, the full NFL draft order and more. Check it all out at SB Nation's NFL Draft Hub and our NFL Draft blog Mocking the Draft.
