NFL Draft Rumors: Redskins Looking To Trade Up Or Down?

We've mentioned a few times around here that April is called Liars' Month because of all the misinformation flowing. The rumors surrounding the 2011 NFL draft are no different and the Washington Redskins are a good example.

Last week John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported that the Redskins were "trying like crazy" to move up in the draft in order to select one of the top quarterbacks available. That made some sense because the Redskins aren't expected to keep QB Donovan McNabb next season.

But then this week Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com reports that the Redskins are actually looking to trade back in the draft. Prisco says Washington is eyeing QB Christian Ponder or QB Andy Dalton.

Two respected reporters with two completely opposite reports. This is a good example of the type of information flowing these days. Sometimes a team will make their interest in trading up known so that they can find a trade partner. Other times a team will make their interest in trading back known so that they can tell the other 31 teams that their pick is for sale.

The point here is that it’s difficult to separate fact from fiction, especially the week leading up to the NFL draft.
