The 2011 NFL draft is only a few days away and one of the many mysteries remaining is QB Jake Locker. Do teams have a first round grade on him? Some, but not all. Will he be a first round pick? More than likley.
NFL Draft 2011: Jake Locker Will Be Picked By...
But who will take him?
That’s the question we’ve been trying to figure out. There are a number of options.
The Tennessee Titans are a candidate to select him with the eighth overall pick but that seems a little high for a quarterback who struggled at times with his accuracy. The Minnesota Vikings are also a candidate to select him with the 12th pick but I'm not sure he'll be ready to start from day one, which the Vikings need.
And then there's the Seattle Seahawks. Picking 25th, the Seahawks seem like a natural spot for Locker -- it's his home town team.
Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times, though, says there’s no indication that will happen.
But there haven’t been any indications the Seahawks are high on him. Maybe that’s all a ruse, a stern poker face of sorts, but if Seattle is really interested, it has done a pretty good job hiding it.
It’s very possible Pete Carroll and Co. are simply hiding their interest in him hoping that he falls to the 25th pick. My early guess is that when the 25th pick comes, Locker is off the board. Perhaps that means the Seahawks won’t get him. Or maybe that means the Seahawks trade up to get him.
The Seahawks may be interested in him but there’s no concrete evidence to tie him to Seattle.
