One 2011 NFL Mock Draft Has Blaine Gabbert Falling To Dolphins

We look at a lot of 2011 NFL mock drafts around here so there's bound to be some major surprises now and again. One of the latest surprises comes from Pat Kirwan of NFL.com. He has QB Blaine Gabbert falling out of the top five, out of the top 10 and all the way to No. 15 to the Miami Dolphins.

Count me as someone who would be completely shocked if this happened.

I know some draft analysts have Gabbert ranked lower than the top five top 10 -- National Football Post has him as the 39th best prospect -- but that doesn’t mean he’ll fall that far.

Gabbert falling to the Dolphins would mean some quarterback-needy team would have to pass on him including potentially the Bills, Bengals, Cardinals, 49ers, Titans, 49ers and Vikings. You can make a case that some of those teams don't need a quarterback or won't draft one but all of them combined passing on Gabbert? I don't see it.

With the NFL lockout eliminating free agency to this point, there will likely be some team out there who needs a quarterback -- and needs one immediately -- that will have to take Gabbert. I can’t envision a scenario where Gabbert falls that far (although I’ve been wrong before).
