The Pittsburgh Steelers made a very smart decision in the 2010 NFL draft with offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey who went on to one of the best seasons of all rookies last year. They're hoping to make another smart decision with Maurkice's twin brother, Mike.
NFL Draft 2011: Steelers Exploring Trade-Up For Mike Pouncey
Jason La Canfora of NFL Networkreports the Steelers, who normally stay away from much trading in the NFL draft, are looking very hard at the possibility of teaming Mike Pouncey with Maurkice.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has given an edict to his personnel department to explore all realistic trade options for Pouncey, a guard/center, to be prepared to acquire him should he “start to slip,” according to the source.
What does "start to slip" mean? The Steelers are 31st in the draft so they can't move up too far. If Pouncey gets past the Dolphins with the 15th pick, a Pouncey brothers scenario could start to unfold. The Giants with the 19th pick and the Chiefs with the 21st pick are threats to take Pouncey so they would likely have to move up somewhere in that range.
