Mark Ingram’s Knee Injury Reportedly Isn’t A Concern In 2011 NFL Draft

In the weeks leading up to the 2011 NFL draft, NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi reported that at least two teams had taken RB Mark Ingram off their draft boards because of concerns over the long-term health of his knee.

That’s not the case, says Dr. James Andrews. Armando Salguero reports that Dr. Andrews sent a letter to all 32 teams giving Ingram a clean bill of health.

Further disproving the talk that the former Heisman Trophy winner should slide -- perhaps all the way out of the first round -- is the fact he was not asked to return to Indianapolis for a medical recheck for any reason, a source said. Potential draftees with medical red flags are often asked to return to the site of the Indianapolis Combine for rechecks so doctors can report the findings to interested teams.

Teams have been privy to his medical information from the Combine so this probably isn’t a huge surprise. Dr. Andrews has confirmed that news.

We'll see what teams really think when the NFL draft comes on Thursday night. Ingram has been projected in the middle of the draft -- perhaps to the Dolphins -- and as late as falling out of the first round entirely.
