2011 NFL Draft Results: James Carpenter Surprise Pick By Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks did their best to trade out of the 25th pick in the 2011 NFL draft but couldn't find a partner. So with the 25th pick the Seahawks select OT James Carpenter out of Alabama.
My first reaction: who?
ESPN’s Mel Kiper had him rated as a late second round pick so this counts as a surprise, especially when guys like OT Gabe Carimi and OT Derek Sherrod were still on the board.
The Seahawks drafted OT Russell Okung last year for the left side and now they have their right tackle. It may have been a little early for Seattle -- thus the attempt to trade back -- but they have bookend tackles for the future.
