2011 NFL Draft Results: Minnesota Vikings Select Kyle Rudolph

With the 43rd pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings gave first round pick Christian Ponder a safety valve by picking Kyle Rudolph, a tight end from Notre Dame. Rudolph is athletic from his tight end spot, posses a big body, yet having enough agility to create serious matchup problems in the passing game. He's a clear pass-catching tight end, and will slot-in with Visanthe Shiancoe in the Vikings passing game.

At 6-foot-6, 258 pounds, Rudolph fits the new-era of tight ends. No longer just blockers, many posses basketball backgrounds and Rudolph is no exception. He has the leaping ability to go up and get the ball and can be used all over the field.

For those keeping track at home, the Vikings are going with offense early and often here in the draft, picking a quarterback in the first and tight end in the second. For more on the Vikings’ draft, head over to Daily Norseman and SB Nation Minnesota.

The second round of the 2011 NFL draft is underway. Day two of the draft will feature the second round with seven minutes between each pick and the third round with five minutes between each pick.
