2011 NFL Draft Results: Pittsburgh Steelers Select Marcus Gilbert

With the 63rd pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Marcus Gilbert, an offensive tackle from Florida. Pittsburgh has gone with offensive and defensive lines in their first two picks, shoring up needs in the trenches early in the NFL Draft. In the first round it was Cameron Heyward, a defensive end from Ohio State who should see action as a 3-4 defensive end. This time around, Pittsburgh gets a capable bookend on the offensive side.

And what more would you expect from the Steelers, who play hard, smash-mouthed football on both side of the ball. Two players that can work in the trenches and get nasty are a logical fit for Pittsburgh.

For more on the Steelers, head over to SB Nation’s Behind The Steel Curtain.

The second round of the 2011 NFL draft is underway. Day two of the draft will feature the second round with seven minutes between each pick and the third round with five minutes between each pick. Make sure you check out our recap of the first round draft picks, the updated NFL draft order and our second round mock draft. SB Nation’s NFL draft hub and Mocking The Draft will have all NFL draft updates.
