After day one of the 2011 NFL draft, we talked about the Detroit Lions having a killer defensive line with DT Nick Fairley and DT Ndamukong Suh. The Lions line should be intimidating but they're not the only ones making an impact up front.
NFL Draft 2011: Da’Quan Bowers Could Make Bucs Defensive Line Great
Consider the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last year they spent their first and second round pick on two defensive tackles -- Gerald McCoy and Brian Price. This year they spent their first and second round picks on a pair of defensive ends -- Adrian Clayborn and Da'Quan Bowers.
It’s the Bowers pick that has people talking. Several months ago he was in the discussion to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. Some questions about his knee arose and he since dropped down the board -- actually, dropped 50 spots down the board to the Bucs’ 51st pick.
SB Nation’s Bucs Nation uses the word devastating talking about the Bowers’ addition.
He will upgrade the Bucs defensive line immediately, and the combination of Da'Quan Bowers, Adrian Clayborn, Gerald McCoy and Brian Price could be devastating for opponents.
Looks like Detroit has some competition for best young defensive line in the game.
