Memphis Tigers nose tackle Dontari Poe decided to leave school early and bypass his senior season with Memphis to enter the 2012 NFL Draft. Poe announced his decision on Twitter back in December, opting to leave early instead of play for his third head coach in four seasons at Memphis.
Dontari Poe, NFL Draft 2012: Memphis Nose Tackle Heads To Draft Early
Memphis Tigers nose tackle Dontari Poe left school early to enter the 2012 NFL draft as one of the top nose tackle prospects.
Poe is a massive defensive lineman coming in at 6-foot-5 and 350 pounds. He’s done a nice job while at Memphis in getting into the backfield and disrupting plays, but he’s first and foremost a space eater and would fit nicely at the nose tackle position for a team in the NFL running a 3-4 defense. As it stands, most draft experts have Poe as a candidate for a second or third round selection, so a team like the San Diego Chargers or Pittsburgh Steelers looking for a nose tackle could take a look at him.
