Jonathan Martin recently declared for the 2012 NFL Draft where the offensive tackle will likely be a Top 15 pick.

With the 2012 NFL Draft not looking particularly stacked at offensive tackle, Stanford’s Jonathan Martin appears be a rare exception. Mocking the Draft has Martin as the No. 6 overall prospect, with USC’s Matt Kalil as the only tackle being ranked higher. In fact, Kalil and Martin are the only two tackles ranked in the Top 20, which promises to keep Martin’s draft prospects high.

In Martin, talent evaluators see a rather enormous man who has the potential to be the top tackle taken. The junior announced on Tuesday that he’d be skipping his final season. The three-year starter was no small part in Stanford’s success, helping limit opponents to just 11 sacks during the Cardinal’s 13 games in 2011.

Here’s what Mocking the Draft had to say about him:

He has good balance and a natural bend which allows him to both pass protect and run block. His hand usage helps him get a push off the line as well as control the direction of the rusher. Martin keeps his pad level low maintaining leverage and enhancing his ability to be an effective offensive lineman.

SB Nation's latest Mock Draft had Martin going No. 13 to the Arizona Cardinals. In that scenario, he would be the third offensive tackle taken.
