Formula E is headed to a new streaming service for the 2026-2027 season

But the all-electric series made a big announcement on Tuesday, ahead of the season finale.
Formula E announced a new streaming home starting later this calendar year with the 2026-2027 campaign, as the single-seater series will shift to Disney+. In addition, in the United States the series will stream alongside ESPN+ beginning next season.
“This is a landmark moment for Formula E and reflects the incredible momentum behind our Championship,” said Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds. “Disney’s unrivalled global reach and storytelling will introduce Formula E to millions of new fans while bringing them closer than ever to the drama, innovation and excitement of electric racing. As we enter the GEN4 era, this provides an exceptional platform to accelerate our global growth and continue building one of the world’s most exciting sports properties.
“We’re also excited by the opportunity to explore additional ways for Formula E and Disney to work together beyond live race coverage, creating even more innovative and engaging experiences for fans in the years ahead.”
As noted by Dodds, next season marks the beginning of the new GEN4 era, bringing new cars, new locations, and a new format to Formula E. The GEN4 cars can deliver 600 kilowatts of power, equivalent to more than 815 horsepower, and travel from 0–60 miles per hour in approximately 1.8 seconds.
Earlier this summer, the series also announced the 2026-2027 schedule, which will feature a new stop in the United States at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Formula E will also introduce the new “E-PrixUnleashed” format, a shorter race that will be run at the eight double-header weekends across the 2026-2027 Formula E season. These “performance-focused sprint” races will last 30 minutes, allowing the drivers to run “flat out, 600 kW, in close combat racing over a slightly shorter race,” as Dobbs described to SB Nation at a media roundtable in June.
Returning to the Disney+ announcement Michaella Snoeck, the Chief Media Officer for Formula E, called the partnership a way to bring fans closer to Formula E than ever before.
“This agreement reflects the global demand for Formula E,” said Snoeck. “Disney’s unprecedented scale complements our valued linear TV broadcast network, allowing us to serve core markets locally while accelerating our digital footprint globally and bringing our fans closer to the action than ever before.”
