Zach Brown is one of the top players eligible for the 2012 NFL Draft after a standout senior season for the North Carolina Tar Heels. He isn't the same guy that is a leader of a band, but he is currently the top-ranked outside linebacker in the upcoming draft class.
Zach Brown, NFL Draft 2012: Tar Heel Is This Year’s Top Ranked Linebacker
Zach Brown is ranked as the top linebacker eligible for the 2012 NFL Draft. With his quick first step, it’ll be interesting to see just how high he ends up going after a solid career with the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Brown will be scrutinized quite a bit, but SB Nation’s Mocking the Draft -- who ranks him as the eighth best prospect in this year’s class -- says his quick first step should alleviate quite a few concerns.
It seems every linebacker heretofore will have his first step compared to former Texas A&M pass rusher Von Miller. If that’s the case, Miller may have a quick twitch challenger in North Carolina’s Zach Brown. The senior-to-be gets off the line of scrimmage as well as you’d hope from a linebacker. He uses that first step to avoid blockers and get into the backfield.
It’ll be interesting to see whether or not he’s able to translate that skill into a top-ten pick.
