CB Antonio Cromartie came to an agreement on a four-year, $32 million deal with the New York Jets early on Monday morning keeping him in New York for another few years. Cromartie had reportedly drawn interest from the Jets, Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
Antonio Cromartie To Jets Is The Best Move
Picking the Jets is a no-brainer if you ask me. Sure, everyone wants to get paid but in New York you have a couple of things going for you. First, the off-the-field money is bigger than other cities because it’s New York, the largest city in the country. Second, you have a legitimate shot to win a Super Bowl. The Jets have been in the AFC Championship game the last two years so you know they have the talent to make it to the Super Bowl.
Cromartie could have gone to Oakland or San Francisco and been a star as the No. 1 cornerback. In New York, he's going to be known as the No. 2 behind CB Darrelle Revis. But, again, it's that desire to win a Super Bowl that likely fueled at least part of this decision. That and $32 million isn't bad money if you can get it.
So Cromartie returns to New York, which we could have guessed once the Jets lost out on CB Nnamdi Asomugha.
