As the AFC East's powers load up on big names, the Indianapolis Colts have shored up their linebacking corps by signing Ernie Sims to a contract with unspecified terms.
Ernie Sims Signs With Indianapolis Colts

Sims has flirted with being one of the more underwhelming NFL Draft picks in recent memory, bouncing from the Detroit Lions — for whom he recorded three consecutive seasons of more than 100 tackles — to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010 after an injury slowed him in the 2009 season. Sims recorded just 55 tackles with the Eagles in 2010, despite starting 15 games, but did set a career high with two sacks.
Sims could be helpful as a speedy, undersized outside linebacker for a Colts team that tends to use players like him in its Cover 2 scheme. His chances of being a star at linebacker in the NFL appear to have expired, though.
