2011 NFL Playoffs, Saints Vs. Seahawks: Drew Brees, New Orleans Are Heavy Favorites

The New Orleans Saints title defense will start on Saturday, January 8, at 4:30 p.m. (ET) against the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field. The Saints are the fifth seed wildcard going on the road to Seattle, who won the NFC West with a 7-9 record. This game features a big point spread as the Saints are a whopping 12 point road favorites. Clearly NFL oddsdon't like Seattle as the first losing team to win their division and make the playoffs.

The Saints finished the season 11-5 and they’re well tested. They sport the 11th ranked offense and seventh ranked defense while the Seahawks are the 23rd ranked offense and 25th ranked defense. The stats clearly favor the Saints in this game.

The Saints already beat the Seahawks once this season, 34-19, on November 21. Both teams had a big offensive day throwing for over 350 yards but it was the Saints that came out on top.

The biggest question mark in this game will be the Seahawks quarterback position. Matt Hasselbeck has been nursing an injury and Charlie Whitehurst played in his place on Sunday against the Rams as he put up a good performance considering the circumstances. Pete Carroll and Co. have yet to make an announcement on the starting quarterback.

Stay tuned to Canal Street Chronicles and Field Gulls leading up to the game.
