Marvin Lewis is expected to be returning to Cincinnati according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Lewis' contract was up at the end of the season prompting some to think Lewis wouldn't return for a ninth season with the Bengals. Apparently that's not the case as both sides expect to clear up any contract issues this week for Lewis' return.
Marvin Lewis Expected To Remain Bengals Head Coach In 2011
It’s a tough call with Marvin Lewis because he’s had some success in Cincinnati but just not sustained success. Last year he took the Bengals to an NFC North title and then this year he took them to a 4-12 record, losers of 11 in a row at one point.
Lewis reportedly wants to see some changes in the organization including upgrades to the team facilities and changes in the personnel department. Owner Mike Brown operates as the general manager. Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports there are still some “considerations” in the air as the two sides discuss things so it’s not quite a done deal but it’s close enough that it’s expected to get done.
There could be some other major changes in Cincinnati as Lewis returns in 2011. The Bengals may enter the year without Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco.
