Gianluigi Buffon recently returned to training, but Juventus manager Gigi Delneri has quelled hopes that the team's first choice goalkeeper would be available for Thursday's match against Parma. The Italian international was able to play only the first half of Italy's opening group stage match before being pulled due to a nerve problem in his back, and underwent surgery later that summer. He has not played yet this season.
Gianluigi Buffon Return Postponed; Will Not Play In Juventus Clash With Parma
According to Delneri, Buffon needs further time to fully recover from his surgery, and so Juventus will postpone his return until their Coppa Italia clash with Catania, scheduled for January 13. Marco Storari will remain between the sticks until Buffon is ready to return.
While fans of The Old Lady will not be able to welcome back an old friend in their keeper, at least they can rest assured that Buffon won’t be sold in the transfer window, with Delneri promising that both keepers will remain at Juventus.
