Early reports of the participants in the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest have proved to be accurate. The NBA has just announced that Blake Griffin, JaVale McGee, Serge Ibaka and Brandon Jennings will be the four participants in the event.

Griffin is the obvious favorite because the game is in Los Angeles, but as Tom Ziller noted earlier, the three contenders have the ability to challenge him. McGee and Ibaka are both big men with a lot of ups. McGee alternates between spectacular athletic plays a man his size shouldn’t be able to make and boneheaded mistakes that make you wonder about him, while Ibaka has provided plenty of in-game delights this season. Jennings, on the other hand, is a curious choice at first glance, because he almost never dunks in games and is injured right now, but he has dunked in games on lower levels.
The Dunk Contest will take place on February 19 at Staples Center as part of the All-Star Saturday Night festivities, beginning at 8 p.m.
