Arkansas Razorbacks QB Ryan Mallett has announced his intention to enter the 2011 NFL Draft via the school’s website. He’s expected to be one of the most-coveted quarterbacks in this year’s crop, and his status could rise very quickly with Stanford Cardinal QB Andrew Luck choosing to remain in school.
2011 NFL Draft: Ryan Mallett Declares, Could Become Top QB Prospect
Our most recent 2011 mock draft had Mallett going No. 21 to the Seattle Seahawks as the third quarterback off the board. Without Luck around, Mallett could easily slip into the top 15 or higher.
Mallett:
Ever since I was a kid, my dream has always been to play for the Razorbacks and I am thankful I had the opportunity to do so. A year ago, when I returned to school I said I wanted to help lead this team to a place among the nation's elite and for the Razorback community to have a mindset to expect greatness. There is no doubt we got there together.
The Hogs did indeed find national success in Mallett’s final year, reaching and nearly winning their first BCS game, falling short in the Sugar Bowl to the Ohio St. Buckeyes.
Mallett bombed the SEC for 3,869 yards and 32 touchdowns, which could’ve been even higher if he hadn’t missed much of the 108-point free-for-all between Arkansas and Auburn.
