U.S. Army All-American Bowl: Demetrius Hart Commits To Alabama, East Wins

Alabama has one of the nation’s deepest stables of running backs. With the addition of Demetrius “Dee” Hart, it just got deeper.

Live on the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Hart chose Alabama over Michigan after decommitting from Michigan during the fall, and will join high school teammate Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix in Tuscaloosa. Clinton-Dix was on hand for Hart’s commitment, and the running back placed a Crimson Tide hat on his friend’s head to signal his commitment.

Hart was also the leader of the East’s comeback in the third quarter of the game, rushing for 100 yards in the period as the East began a comeback that eventually earned them a 13-10 win.

For his efforts, Hart was awarded the Pete Dawkins Trophy as the U.S Army All-American Bowl MVP.

If 2009 Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram stays in Tuscaloosa — and that’s unlikely — Alabama could have one of the most versatile and dangerous backfields in America in 2011. Ingram, bruising junior Trent Richardson, and the shifty Hart would give the Crimson Tide an arsenal of offensive talent that might give the SEC nightmares if their line can improve on a middling 2010.
