Chris Cook Arrested For Domestic Assault

The Vikings will likely be without Chris Cook on Sunday against the Packers, thinning out an already depleted secondary. Cook was arrested last night for domestic assault, according to a report.

Minnesota Vikings defensive back Chris Cook was arrested early Saturday morning for domestic assault. The Vikings released a statement, according to the Star-Tribune, saying, "The Minnesota Vikings are aware of the incident involving Chris Cook. We take this matter very seriously and are still gathering all the details of the incident. We will not have any further comment at this time."

Dan Wiederer of the Star Tribune reports it likely means Chris Cook is out for Sunday's game. It's another hit to an already depleted secondary with Antoine Winfield and safety Jamarca Sanford already listed as doubtful with injuries. This is Cook's second run in with authorities this year. In March, Cook was arrested for pulling a gun on his neighbor, though he was found not guilty two months later.

Here are the details of his most recent arrest, according to the Hennepin County jail records obtained by the Star Tribune:

Hennepin County jail records indicate Cook was arrested by Eden Prairie Police, booked at 4:06 a.m. and is being held without bail until his court appearance Monday at 8:15 a.m. The 24-year-old Cook is still in custody. And records show a description of the charge as “DOMESTIC ASSAULT-MISDEMEANOR-INTENTIONALLY INFLICTS/ATTEMPTS TO INFLICT BODILY HARM ON ANOTHER.”

Losing cook for the game is a big blow, considering the Vikings are thin in the secondary and will be facing the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers. More importantly, however, this is Cook's second incident this year and it's possible he could face league discipline if convicted.
