Theo Epstein on Bryan LaHair, who spent most of this season destroying Pacific Coast League pitchers:

↵↵“The reality is, I’m not so sure there is something called a 4-A hitter. It’s just (a) pretty good major league hitter who never got an opportunity.”

↵↵LaHair’s probably worth a look, but he didn’t really hit in 3-A until he was 26. Granted, he’s been fantastic since then, and if he can play first base at all he’s a decent option in 2012.
