Notre Dame Vs. Navy Game 2011: Series History And Rivalry Fast Facts

Navy looks to beat Notre Dame for the third time straight, to make it four out of the last five.

The Navy Midshipmen will be looking to win their third straight game against the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame has dropped two straight to the Mids, after having their 43 game win streak snapped in 2007. The 43 game win streak was the longest by one team over another in the NCAA.

Out of the 84 match ups, the Fighting Irish have dominated the series winning 71 times. The 43 game win streak was snapped by Navy in a dramatic 46-44 triple overtime game. Notre Dame plays this game to repay Navy for helping to keep Notre Dame financially afloat during World War II and is scheduled to continue indefinitely.

The Mids 2011 class is only the third Navy class in the school’s history to beat Notre Dame three times.
