Yankees Vs. Tigers, ALDS Game 3 Preview: Time, TV Schedule And More

C.C. Sabathia and Justin Verlander return to the mound for Game 3 of the 2011 ALDS after rain cut their starts short in Game 1

Justin Verlander and C.C. Sabathia both started Game 1 of the 2011 ALDS and allowed one run, but when the game was postponed in the 2nd inning due to rain, neither Jim Leyland or Joe Girardi opted to send their ace out a day later. Instead, both have been saved for Game 3, where they will pitch with the series split at 1-1.

Both pitchers had decent control, but obviously didn’t have their absolute best in Game 1, with both pitchers giving up an early run. It’s hard to guess exactly how sharp they’re going to be for Game 3, but it’s rare for either Sabathia or Verlander to have a dud of a game at any time.

The Tigers and Yankees have both given their bullpens plenty of work in the first two games, so both managers will be hoping that their aces can go deep into the game.

Game Date/Time: 8:30 P.M. ET, October 3, 2011

Stadium: Comerica Park, Detroit, Michigan

TV: TBS

Projected starters

New York: C.C. Sabathia (19-8, 3.00 ERA)

Detroit: Justin Verlander (24-5, 2.40 ERA)
