WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather has been sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault and no contest to harassment charges stemming from a September 2010 incident where he attacked the mother of his children in his Las Vegas, Nevada home.

Three months of the sentence has been suspended, with Mayweather required to serve 90 days in jail. Maywearther is required to surrender to authorities on January 6, 2012.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Melissa Saragosa handed down the sentence, which also requires Mayweather to pay a total of $2,500 in fines, complete 100 hours of community service as well as a 12-month domestic violence program.

Mayweather has also entered into a plea agreement on a misdemeanor battery charge from November of 2010. In that incident, Mayweather is alleged to have poked and verbally abused a security guard over a parking issue. Mayweather will pay a $1,000 fine to resolve that legal issue.
