So far this season, there's been something missing about Alex Ovechkin. The Washington Capitals captain has been suffering from a lack of highlight-reel goals, which may have affected his confidence as well. Through the first two periods of Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Ottawa Senators, things were once again not going Ovechkin's way.

He was getting several scoring chances in what can be considered "vintage" fashion for Ovechkin, driving hard to the net and looking for a quick wrister/curl-and-drag. Craig Anderson, however, held his ground and six quality shots on goal with nothing to show for them had Ovechkin looking to the sky.
With frustration moutning, Ovechkin scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal all by himself.
It’s not necessarily easy to put this goal into words, but that is what made Ovechkin one of the most exciting players in the NHL. It’s obvious how much weight was released from Ovechkin’s shoulders after scoring that goal. Alleviating some pressure could be the beginning of Ovechkin’s breakout and the return of a nightmare for the rest of the league.
