John Harbaugh Signs Contract Extension With Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are one of the premier organizations in the NFL and owner Steve Bisciotti hopes things stay that way. On Monday, the Ravens announced that head coach John Harbaugh had signed a contract extension with the team.

Terms of the deal weren’t provided but Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun reports it’s a three year extension which will keep him under contract through the 2014 season.

"Having John increases our opportunity to compete for the NFL championship every year, which is our goal," Ravens president Dick Cass said.

This is among the biggest no-brainer decisions out there, as SB Nation’s Baltimore Beatdown writes.

This is great news for the team, who have made the post season in each of Harbaugh's three years. Consistency breeds a winner and with a renewed focus on the offensive side of the ball, Harbaugh and the Ravens have every reason to continue to be a Super Bowl contender in 2011 and beyond (if there is a 2011 season!).

Since their Super Bowl over a decade ago, the Ravens have been known for their defense and that reputation has continued, if not been strengthened, under Harbaugh. Baltimore ranked third in points given up in each of the last three years.
