Irina Shayk (aka Irina Shaykhlislamova) is the cover model on this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. She’s also linked to Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portuguese soccer player who has done his own fair share of scantily-clad modeling work (they reportedly met while doing underwear ads for Armani Exchange ... of course they did).
Irina Shayk Reminds Darren Rovell She Needs No Help Landing 2011 SI Swimsuit Cover
Shayk was a guest on CNBC’s Power Lunch Tuesday afternoon with Darren Rovell. The topic of Ronaldo was brought up by Rovell, and how having a world-famous boyfriend could help Shayk land the cover ... and said topic is quickly dismissed by Shayk (around the 2:10 mark):
If you are too busy and important to watch the video, here’s a quick transcript after the jump:
Darren Rovell: You’re dating Cristiano Ronaldo, the soccer player ...
Irina Shayk: [plays coy]
DR: ... you don’t know about that? [...] The fact that you might or might not be dating him, does that help you get on the cover, kind of like Brooklyn Decker and Andy Roddick?
IS: [motioning to SI cover] Do you really think I need somebody help for that?
DR: [sheepishly] No. You need no help at all.
IS: Thank you. I think so too.
To his credit, Rovell was quick acknowledge a well-timed zing: “She puts me in my place.”
