This call will be an update to that event as well as further details on other planned overseas UFC events. - UFC 129 has passed UFC 66 as the largest gate in UFC history.
- UFC 129 will break the attendance mark set at UFC 124: St. Pierre vs. Koscheck 2.
- According to the UFC, UFC 126 and 127 sold out and UFC 128 is trending towards a sellout. UFC Fight Night 24, featuring Tito Ortiz vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, will be adding more seats to accommodate fan demand.
- UFC is also highlighting recent sellouts in Dublin at UFC 93, London for UFC 120, Montreal for UFC 124 and most recently Sydney, Australia for UFC 127.
- The organization is also highlighting UFC: Rio, set to take place in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in August.
As for what this means for future stateside events, no one knows. The market reality of the pay-per-view business generally means that requisite media attention and pay-per-view markets has to come from North America. That means, generally, the bigger fights are stateside or in Canada. But with burgeoning markets across the world, perhaps that dynamic will begin to shift.
