Best Of The SB Nation Network: February 17, 2011

We have 294 fantastic sports blogs in SB Nation, so in case you didn’t have a chance to read them all today we’ve collected the best stuff right here. Get sports smart in no time fast!

Hockey

- The Copper & Blue says that trading Dustin Penner or Ales Hemsky would only set back the Oilers’ rebuild.

- In Lou We Trust wonders if the Devils should trade David Clarkson at the deadline.

- Broad Street Hockey thinks Nikolay Zherdev should be traded while he still has value.

Basketball

- Fear the Sword, fresh off watching their Cavs team beat the Lakers, are looking for more consistency from the team. Losing 26 straight (again) isn’t what they mean.

- Josh Childress signed a big contract with the Suns this offseason and now is riding pine. Bright Side of the Sun wants to see J-Chill playing instead of Vince Carter.

- Jazz blog SLC Dunk calls out Jazz fans for acting like Heat fans.

Football

- Mile High Report has the story of John Elway tweeting about negotiations with free agent Champ Bailey.

- The Phinsider isn’t so sure that Miami can get a deal done with its own free agent, nose tackle Paul Soliai.

- Niners Nation lets us know that the NFL and the NFLPA will go to mediation.

- Defining the Patriot Way of winning championships, from Pats Pulpit.

College Sports

- Auburn blog Track Em Tigers doesn’t blame Alabama fans in general, but instead “one sick individual” for poisoning the oak trees at Auburn’s famous Toomer’s Corner and hopes that cool heads prevail among angry Tiger fans. Roll Bama Roll condemns the act, along with other acts of vandalism that have occurred on Alabama’s campus, and although they understandably have no fondness for Auburn’s tradition of rolling Toomer’s Corner to commemorate victories, they lament the damage done to a significant part of the rivalry.

- The return of the Kemba Walker Show in last night’s 78-70 win over Georgetown has the UConn Blog feeling “sky-high” about the rest of the Huskies’ season. Casual Hoya has high praise for Walker (“one of the toughest matchups in the country”), but notes that Walker got a lot of help from Jamal Coombs-McDaniel as well.

- Bucky’s 5th Quarter says that nothing went right for the Gophers in their 70-62 loss to Purdue at Mackey’s House of Horrors. Boilermaker blog Hammer and Rails isn’t surprised, noting that none of the top three teams in the Big Ten have lost at home this year and hoping that that trend continues when Ohio State comes calling this weekend.

Soccer

- The Brotherly Game, SB Nation’s Philadelphia Union blog, catches up with former Union goalkeeper Chris Seitz, who’s hoping to reignite his career with FC Dallas.

- Hot Time in Old Town, SB Nation’s Chicago Fire blog, suggests the Fire should take a page out of the Barcelona playbook and give away their shirt sponsorship to a local non-profit.
