Shalrie Joseph and Kevin Alston, two of the New England Revolution's best players, were sent home on Sunday because of what is being called "disciplinary reasons." There have been precious few other details other than the fact that they will be separated from the team at least until the Revolution return from their Florida training trip on Thursday.

Joseph has been one of the league’s top central midfielders since joining the Revolution in 2003. But last year he took a leave of absence and was involved in the league’s substance abuse program. He missed the season’s first couple months, but returned in May and scored four goals and had five assists in 22 matches.
Kevin Alston has not had any headline-making personal incidents, and made the MLS All-Star Game last year. The right back was one of the few young stars on a team that is coming off its worst season of the Steve Nicol era (2002-present).
