Duke Makes Case For No. 1 With 79-57 Thumping Of Georgia Tech
Nolan Smith scored 28 points, and No. 5 Duke made its case to be the nation's top team with a 79-57 thumping of Georgia Tech at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
The four teams in front of Duke in the rankings all lost this week, and the Blue Devils, who spent the first 10 weeks of the season in the No. 1 spot, may regain the post behind their sixth straight victory.
Kyle Singler posted 15 points and nine rebounds, while Ryan Kelly netted 10 points for the Blue Devils (25-2, 12-1 ACC), who pushed the nation's longest home winning streak to 34 games.
Maurice Miller and Iman Shumpert led Georgia Tech with 13 points apiece, but the Yellow Jackets (11-15, 3-9) dropped their sixth straight ACC game.
