Red Wings Vs. Wild: Todd Bertuzzi’s 1,000th Game Ends With Shootout Winner
Todd Bertuzzi scored the game-winning shootout goal in his 1,000th career game as the Detroit Red Wings topped the Wild in a difficult defensive struggle. Martin Havlat tied the game in the third period with his 500th career point. Breakaway!
The game would stay tied until overtime and the shootout, when Bertuzzi's lone goal was the tiebreaker that sent the Wild faithful into the blizzard angry. Nicklas Backstrom's responsible for earning his team an important point in the standings, though, as he made 38 saves on 39 shots.

Blackhawks 3, Penguins 2 (OT): Chicago blew two leads in this one but ultimately, thanks to a Patrick Kane shootout tally in the third round, were able to get a desperately needed two points from the ravaged Penguins. Matt Cooke scored a shorthanded goal and probably deserved several more goals in his first game back from a four-game suspension.
Capitals 2, Sabres 1: Ryan Miller made 27 saves and still lost. He should probably blame Mathieu Perreault for that. The Capitals forward was key on both Washington goals, scoring one and throwing the game-winner at the net before a Marcus Johansson deflection beat Miller. Seymon Varlamov made 28 saves in the win.
