College Basketball Rankings: Duke Tops ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll

This week’s ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll has been released, and it reinstalls Duke, the reigning national champions, on top of the college basketball world. After a week in which Kansas, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, and Texas all lost, the Blue Devils once again take the top spot in the Coaches’ Poll.

Also making a leap: San Diego State, which rises from sixth to fourth and earns three first-place votes. The Aztecs are the last remaining Division I team with just one loss, and have racked up an impressive 14 wins on the road and at neutral sites. Could Steve Fisher’s squad be headed for a No. 1 seed in the 2011 NCAA Tournament?

The top-10 team most hurt by a loss last week is Texas, which falls three spots from second to fifth after being toppled by Nebraska on Saturday.

Other risers include Arizona, which enters the top 10 for the first time this season following a dramatic win over Washington, and St. John’s, which earns its first ranking of the 2010-11 campaign following its upset of Pittsburgh.
