Since Wigan Athletic was promoted to the Premier League in 2005, they have faced Manchester United 12 times - 11 in league, once in the Carling Cup. Their record: 0-0-12. In those matches, they've been outscored 36-4, including a 5-0 loss the last time the Red Devils were at the DW. Today, Manchester United returns, looking to restore their four point lead atop the Premier League with a win over the Latics.
English Premier League Saturday: Manchester United Look To Restore Four Point Lead
That lead is down to one after Arsenal beat Stoke City 1-0 mid-week. Today, Manchester United makes up that game-in-hand, with Tuesday's match at Stamford Bridge giving the team a chance to move seven clear of the Gunners. United, however, has only won three times all season away from Old Trafford, suffering their first loss of the season the last time they ventured away from home in league.
That match, as well as the four others on today's English Premier League fixture list, kicks-off at 10:00 a.m. Eastern. Then, Aston Villa will play Blackburn for the fifth time this season, the clubs having split the previous four meetings. Everton, only three points clear of the drop, host a Sunderland side that's lost three consecutive in league. Newcastle and Bolton, facing each other at St. James', will look to move into a European spot, should Sunderland stumble at Goodison. And at the Molineux, site of Manchester United's only loss, Blackpool will look to extend their mid-week form at Wolves.
