Tom Brady Named 2010 NFL MVP, Is First Ever Unanimous Selection

There will be no surprise when it comes to the 2010 NFL MVP: it goes to Tom Brady, the statistical leader among all quarterbacks and the quarterback of the best NFL team in the regular season.

The Patriots quarterback not only won the award, he won it unanimously, becoming the NFL's first unanimously selected MVP by collecting all 50 votes. But that doesn't seem like a particularly strange feat considering his year: Brady led a Patriots team most expected to compete but not dominate to a 14-2 record, the NFL's best, and Brady's statistics may have been more impressive.

Brady completed 65.9% of his passes for 3,900 yards despite being pulled late in a number of blowouts, and threw for 36 touchdowns against just four interceptions. That ratio is an NFL record, breaking Brady’s old mark set in 2007, his other NFL MVP season.

Perhaps most impressively, Brady set an NFL record for flawlessness with a brilliant streak of interception-free play. Brady threw 334 consecutive passes without an interception to finish the regular season, setting a new NFL record, and will have a chance to extend that streak in 2011.
